Adopt-A-Grandparent
The adopt a grandparent movement was inspired by LaShawnna Stanley after her paternal grandmother was placed in a nursing home. Visiting often, LaShawnna noticed many of the elders were abandoned by their families and never had any visitors, leaving them very sad and lonely.
“I made it a mission to make sure my grandchildren spent time and got to know my 90 year old grandmother/their great great grandmother and understood the importance of taking care of and not neglecting the elderly.” -LaShawnna Stanley
“Taking care of grandma” is a childrens book that was created to teach children the importance of taking care of and spending time with grandma as she gets older.
If your grandparents are still alive we encourage you to spend as much time and create as many memories as possible. If you grandparents are no longer here, we encourage you to adopt a grandparent and dedicate time at least once a week making sure a elder feels loved & cherished.
